TRICHY: IndiGo is set to launch a daily flight service in Trichy – Singapore sector from September 15, 2018.
Air Asia will add one more service to its existing Trichy-Kuala Lumpur sector.
The service would be available thrice weekly, from November 24
With the launch of the services by IndiGo and Air Asia, the total number of international flights operating from Trichy is to go up to 94 from 84.
The number of domestic services has already touched 64 a week, the total number of both, domestic and international, services being operated from the Trichy international airport is going to touch 158 mark increasing from 148 per week
IndiGo is operating four daily services to Chennai and single service to Bangalore and Kochin each. The new service would start at 2.20 pm from Singapore and arrive here at 3.55 pm. While returning, the flight would depart from Trichy at 6.40 pm and would reach Singapore at 1.45 am.
On the other hand, Air Asia is operating three flights to Kuala Lumpur on daily basis. Following a rousing reception for this sector, the airlines have decided to extend one more service to Kuala Lumpur. It will launch its fourth service to the country from November 24. The flight would be on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, officials from the airlines said. As of now, Air India Express, Scoot Tiger Air, Sri Lankan Airlines, Malindo Air and Air Asia have been providing services to various countries including Sharjah, Dubai, Singapore, Colombo, Kuala Lumpur. In the case of domestic operation, Jet Airways, Alliance Air and IndiGo are operating flights to Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kochin. Trichy as a fast-growing non-metro airport, has surpassed the 15 lakh mark in handling international and domestic passengers during the 2017-18 financial year. According to airport authorities, the airport handled over 5.3 lakh passengers (international and domestic) during the April to July period alone this year.
