SkyShuttle launching shared business Jets and helicopter flights from next week

NEW DELHI: The Indian skies are set to see an Uber-like revolution in the business Jet space with SkyShuttle launching shared business Jets and helicopter flights from next week. 

The company is launching scheduled business jet flights between Mumbai and Bengaluru and helicopter services from Juhu airport to industrial towns such as Vapi and Tarapur. The flights on the Mumbai-Bengaluru route will be operated by an aircraft between 6 and 14 seats, depending on the bookings. 

“These will essentially be flights with luxuries of a business Jet flight but with a schedule. So, a passenger will not have to be at the airport two hours before the flight and will be saving time in Bengaluru too because our flight will be landing at the old airport in Bengaluru that is within the city,” Kanika Tekriwal, founder of SkyShuttle told ET. SkyShuttle is fully owned by JetSetGo – founded by Tekriwal and has cricketer Yuvraj Singh as its investor. 

Fliers on the Mumbai-Bengaluru sector will soon be able to reach the airport just 15 mins before the flight departure time and land at the older airport in Bengaluru provided they are ready to shell out a little extra. The company is also launching helicopter services from Juhu airport in Mumbai to industrial towns like Vapi and Tarapur. 

While the fare to Bengaluru will cost between Rs 16,000 and Rs 38,000 per passenger, helicopter flights will cost up to Rs 35,000 per passenger. 

Analysts say that there is market for flights in this segment but the pricing has to be right. “The pricing will be key on these flights to attract business class passengers of a commercial airliner. A business class passenger would easily give up to 50% more than the business class fares for the incentives that these flights offer. Actors or c ..
